Jonathan Soares

Jonathan Soares is from São Paulo and grew up between the capital and the countryside. His interest in film began as a teenager, when he started a band and, DIY style, began making music videos and series inspired by the much-missed MTV. Still young, he started editing professionally. He spent 15 years as an editor, signing projects for brands such as José Cuervo, Carmen Steffens, Caixa, the Federal Government, Chiquinho Sorvetes, Faber-Castell, Santa Helena and Sesc, among others.

Editing was (and still is) his great school. It gave him the rhythm, the eye and the feel he brings to directing. Like a good evolving Pokémon, his editing career became fuel for directing everything from commercials to personal projects and productions shot on a phone, always mixing technique with creativity.
